Listary 6 Beta 🎉

some functions seem to miss in beta 6 …

when can we see listary 6 updates?

any plans of win11 UI in listary.

what about new features?

I love this app very much and being useful.

As you can see in the forum and the history
Listary is a dead product.
The current beta works fine in Windows 11
but there may be no future updates.

Listray 6 beta Conflict with Windows 11

No such conflict here
after upgrading from Windows 10.
Works as before.

Windows 11 Home x64 Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.258)
Listary 6 beta 6.0.5.16

Why is this app even paid when devs never respond?!?

Still crashes non stop, its kinda useless as it was with win10… no updates, no response from devs. Kinda sad, wonder how paid customers are feeling, perhaps they do get a response, i hope so for them

cashes always in both win 10 and 11

You should try fluent search guy…
Not as fluid and fast than listary, but you will be surprised how powerful is it.
In one year the dev improved his app by 1000!

No this app can also manage tasks

As I stated here earlier in this thread, there is only one developer and he has been pulled to work on a project. Most likely, he has no time to work on this.

I should mention that Listary 5 has continued to work for me on Windows 10. Honestly it is more stable than the 6 beta for me.

But I will be looking into Fluent Search.

u cant imagine how Fluent search is good now

Can it do this yet (both speed and functionality)? Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software
In this demo I’m activating an Explorer context menu action on a file I know.
If not, I could only imagine how lacking it is. Would be happy to be proven wrong though.

tl;dr Listary is still superior and Fluent Search is still convoluted and alien to use. Unless you have the need in specific, niche, advantages of Fluent Search (mainly it’s ability to search in processes) - stick with the Listary.

It looks like the author of Fluent Search intentionally avoids making the ways you interact with the Fluent Search similar to the ones that you use in Listary. Today I’ve tried to work using Fluent Search, instead of Listary, and indeed it was not only lacking, but it feels so alien to operate. And this is not because I’ve used to Listary - Fluent Search work-flows are convoluted and complicated (unnecessarily so) on the fundamental level. Take, for example, Listary’s search using keywords. I was used to assign short names for the search engines in web browsers, so this “skill” naturally translated into Listary. I’ve added all the search engines, that I’m using, to the Listary and now my search is done by invoking Listary, entering corresponding short name, followed by space and then search term. In Fluent Search you need to move your hands and select search engine using arrow keys which is slower and breaks your hand positioning over the keyboarrd. But there is more - this “skill” is 100% compatible with Listary’s file/folder/app search. I’ve created short names for folders or file types and now can search for them in an instant. In Fluent Search the same operations are requiring several more steps compared to Listary. And behavior of Fluent Search may change on the fly, so the end-result of the same operation may be different every time you try to do it. There is more, but this post is long enough as it is. Personally I hope that Microsoft will continue to develop their PowerToys Run launcher and it will reach feature parity with at least Listary 6 Beta.

You are talking about something you really don’t know…lol
It’s funny how its easy to be criticism about someone who try to make app better lol
Listary 6 beta right ?
Fluent search it’s even not on version 1.0 LOOL
I use to search many thing with tag and keyword and even if it’s not, for now, as fast or as simple as listary, it’s already much more powerful.
I enter some keyword to look for some item on YouTube Google Map or Google image
Just the keyword TAB and it’s done
U can add tasks that used search engine or key like (Ctrl +shift + B) and creating unlimited tasks.

I’m not against listary, it was the best app, but now it’s finish. For some user it stop to work because of bug in windows due to newer version.

So fluent search need to be improved, but at least the dev is super active and trying to make it good and powerful.
That all

It’s not even about feature parity, “LOL”. The way that Fluent Search work is counter intuitive and convoluted. Basically you cannot apply common ways and skills that are common to other apps and are present in Listary, because how Fluent Search is built. There is a video in this thread, that shows what hoops you need to jump through in order to switch “Save file” or “Open file” dialogues to the same location, that is opened in your file browser. In Listary it takes a split second to do. All this instead of simple Ctrl+G Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software ? Yeah, right.

“Software version” is a poor excuse, because even the features that are present in both applications are much more cumbersome to use in Fluent Search.

P. S. I’m on Windows 10 and I’m using a whole bunch (like 30) custom shortcuts (in AquaSnap, AutoHotKey, etc), that are available on the system level, in order to do what I want to do. So adding a whole bunch of different shortcuts in order to use yet another application is not optimal solution. Why is there a need to add a whole bunch of different shortcuts to use the features, that can be realized as a 2-3 letter prefix and used from the app’s search bar? Shortcuts breeding is a suboptimal solution.

In one moment Fluent Search will search for a file but on the second go it will give a different search result, for the same word, only because in between I’ve opened additional window. Oh, yes, I should use three different shortcuts, in order to launch Fluent Search windows that have different search capabilities, in order to prevent Fluent Search searching through opened processes. This is the true “LOL” here.

Do what you want and keep stuck on this unupdated app

The thing is you can customize search and prioritize what you want on fluent search.
You can set power search
And so many things

But I don’t think you want to understand that fluent search is just the next step after listary death. That’s all.
We were all expecting so much from listary, but now it’s like 2/3 years and no update…with windows 11 and update maybe listary will stop working. That’s the point.
So we need a replacement, and fluent search is the most promising app i ever seen. Point.

Keep saying listary is faster…is more blablabla…good
Stay on listary.

If you want to help fluent search to be as intuitive and faster than listary, come on the discord channel and GitHub and ask for new feature. The dev is super understanding.
And at least, fluent search has a dev…listary no.

Its my last answer to you (not here to have argument, if i was here it was for listary, but got disappointed by the dev so now I changed, i don’t want to use an app which is not dev anymore.)

kwanice, how are you still here after so much time, telling everyone to go to fluentsearch? I would be amazed if you weren’t its developer. Otherwise, I’m not sure why you would keep talking about this inferior alternative. Listary may not be actively developed, but it’s still better than the tripe you’re peddling.

lol poor guy  easy to stay on old app, not uptaded, and will become buggy with the next release of windows LOL
i think, no im sure that people like you will never adapt to new thing, thats bad.
Nevermind we are in a free forum, and i can say exactly what i want, if you are not happy with that, leave.
i still keep a small hope that the dev of listary will come back one day, and maybe start again dev on this app.
So i stay here for this reason.

but for now listary, as good as it was, is just so far from FS. that’s all.
im not here to argue with u or anyone else.
I just wait for the dev, so stop insulting people and telling lie. im just a normal user.

Hello kwanice, I’ve tried fluent search a few times now. but despite the fact that the developer is so active, there is still no functionality that comes close to ctrl-g from listary.
if this functionality is available in fluent search, I would like to switch …
