I couldnāt get either of things to work. Is there a trick. Is there a setting?
With the dialogue open, press Alt+Space to call up the search and input the name of the folder or file you want and the dialogue will automatically switch to that directory. You can also click on the folder if it is open and when you click back in the save as dialogue, it will also update to the most recent folder
Yes, this are good features. but i still miss ctrl+G ⦠because itās just one keystroke.
and i donāt not always know the name of the folder where i want to go ā¦
Iāve tried several alternatives but none had what Listary 6 has: choose a context menu item on a file with ease. Have I missed something? Does any one else use such workflow on any other alternative to Listary?
Demo: here I want to choose a context menu item āGitExt Open Repositoryā on a file I know. This is bloody awesome and time saver for me in many scenarios. https://www.loom.com/share/048d472ad97747788ca91dda484d58d4
p.s. this demo is keyboard only (crucial for minimizing input switching)
This is not a good thing for search functionality. Have you used anything search-related from Microsoft? Bing? Windows 10 start menu search? File explorer search? Theyāre all shocking!
Windows 10 search for installed āTightVNC Viewerā app. Search VNC, nothing??? Search Viewer, second result.
Also, Iāve installed Fluent Search, and the search algorithm is simply not as good as Listaryās I searched the same thing in both, and found the thing I was looking for in Listary and it wasnāt even in the list in Fluent⦠maybe I just need to learn more of the search syntax for Fluent, but in that case itās not as intuitive as Listary. Itās also far slower. Search results take a few seconds to show, whereas Listary itās half a second.
I also found Fluent to be worse than Listary and had to switch back, but at least itās under active development so Iāll be keeping an eye on its progress. Seems like the most promising alternative to me.
u cant say that LOL
the dev of FS is working on azure, not on search tools LOL
by the way, yes listary is faster and sometimes more reliable, but u have to configure well Fluent search to be optimal.
it can do much more than listary, its a really good tools;
listary is version 5 or 6 in betaā¦
FS is even not on version 1.0ā¦lol, since we used for few month, we already had dozen of dozen of updateā¦
just need time to be as smooth as listary
at least the dev is replying and activeā¦not like listary.
If many here follow and trust Adir (FS dev) its because is active and open to any suggestion
I know I canāt say that. Applications are only as good as the employees, and not all employees are equal. But itās always good to have a dig at how bad Windows search tools areā¦
Iām sure Fluent Search might one day become a replacement for Listary, but while itās not there yet, iāll definitely be sticking to Listary, even if itās EOL.
Had the same performance issue with Fluent Search, contacted dev and now itās really fast! Try latest nightly 0.9.89.40. There are still bugs here and there, but for me, performance is not an issue anymore
