I would like to suggest the addition of the ability to share the same recent files and folders between two or more applications. For example: To have the same recent files and folders in all file managers or to share the same recent files in all image editors.
The search feature of Listary depends on Everything.
Sorry that I won’t change the behavior of double-click. However @highend has suggested a great feature which allows you to simply type … to go up one folder level. I’ll add that.
@Channing
Hmm, the beta version was supposed to load your old settings and favorites automatically, but this feature doesn't seem to work. I'm looking into this.
Good to hear. How exactly can we import our old favorite folder settings (from the Config.xml file) when you release the new beta, just copy that file into the current Listary folder and after starting the .exe, they will be imported automatically?
I’d like the input focus to change to the Listary list automatically when I start typing in Xplorer2, just as it does in Winodws Explorer. Why? I’ve got lots of files and folders whose names contain spaces, and now I have actually to move the mouse and click on the list in order to enter these to the FAYT string. With Windows Explorer things work as expected – just type the name, including spaces, and Listary finds the target. With Xplorer2 the space is taken by Xplorer2 to be a select-unselect toggle unless I have clicked in the Listary text input box. Perhaps this option could be another checkbox on the “by Window Type” option page. (Or maybe I’m doing something wrong.)
[edit] Well, it seems I am more wrong than right. I can’t make Explorer use the space bar any more (maybe it never did) as a seelector item, and the special processing of the space character is something internal to Xplorer2. X2 regards it as an internal hot key and therefore eats it up. So I’ve hacked X2, and made things work the way I want (the space character now nicely goes to Listary), so I withdraw my request.
Hi Channing, there is a bug I hope you can fix in beta v4. When I go to save a file and navigate to my target folder with listary, if I move the mouse over a file found the list of search results the file I am saving takes the name of the file under the mouse pointer in place of its actual name. This is very frustrating as it means you have to type the file name again. E.g. If I am saving a file currently named “Document 1 May Edit v4” and I want to save it in folder “May Special Documents” when I Everything subfolder search for “May Special Documents” and in the results there is a file “Employee Phone Number Special May List.doc” when the mouse pointer moves over that file name on my way to pointing it to the “May Special Documents” folder the file name of the file being saved becomes “Employee Phone Number Special May List.doc”!? This is why I requested a feature separating found folders from found files in the search! Anything you can do to fix this would be awesome! Cheers and keep up the good work on the beta.
I’m using Listary 4 like a month and I changed the way I used v3.x. I like the “Search Everything” function and i find it extremely helpful.
One thing that I like that you consider is the possibility to access to Listary Toolbar anywere (currently is only possible in some pre-defined apps), just to search with Everything. Maybe you should consider add this feature or maybe create a new program that just do that (search with Everything from anywhere).
Also i’ll like to see to add this feature in the items: Context Menu and Drag’n Drop.
