Thanks for the explanation!

It’s a beautiful app but has some CRITICAL negatives.

  1. Need to sideload apps. Not available in installer or ZIP format! Must install from Windows 10 Store and if you’re on LTSC that’s not a popular option. Can sideload using these instructions:
    https://www.howtogeek.com/285410/how-to-install-.appx-or-.appxbundle-software-on-windows-10/

  2. No portable option - this is a dealbreaker

  3. No way to designate folder for program shortcuts. This is a dealbreaker.

Nice beta start though!

sorry but for normal user we dont need portable installation
we dont need to designate a specific folder and still less appx installation …At least for now

Can anyone help me with creating a custom action for “delete”? What’s the parameter value I have to enter. i’d like to delete files with a hotkey, without opening the menu first. thx.

will try, hope the event log helps

@ChrisM

any new news from the dev “fluent search”?

yes he is always reply very fast !
so good

he release a alpha version, im asking him if i can share with u
he said

“The newest sideload version has feature to search in an Explorer
window
if you’d like to test that.”

lets see

ok i share with u the last information. tell me if u want me to give u update or not

Fluent Search - OneDrive
u can find the last version of this app, the frst files changelogs.md explain all
he is working on a auto update process.

The first is “Process Search” - with it you search inside any process
(not only explorer) for files, UI elements, links, etc.
The process search will search in the currently focused process, so if
an explorer window is in focus it will search in it for files (even in
subdirectories) and once you focus a result it will show in the explorer
window.

The second feature is “Instant Search” - with it you can search in
Fluent Search without pressing any hotkey, it is configurable per
process name (In Settings -> Process Search / Advanced enabled).
Once enabled for a specific process, once you are in focus on that
process, you are not focusing textboxes/search bars, and you start
typing, it will start searching in Fluent Search immediately.

If you combine these two features, you can achieve similar experience to
Listary’s immediate search in explorer.

Another feature that might catch your interest is “Context”, which uses
the default hotkey “Ctrl+Shift+C” to copy the context of the currently
focused process to the clipboard. For example - in explorer the context
will be the file path, and, in the browser, it will be the URL.

here

concerning point 1, the app now comes in .exe form in the latest alpha(currently 0.9.62.5 which is available from the OneDrive link @kwanice posted here) still no portable option though.

for point 3. Fluent Search’s Files search could be of benefit since it uses either Windows Indexer or Everything to search your computer. so if you have a folder with program shortcuts, they’ll be available in Fluent Search.

Try Microsoft PowerToys, it does the same thing and much more…

Yes powertoys is good BUT it dont use everything for finding files

powertoys…could be good…
but so slow!!
and u dont have all the feature of listary…
=> not usable for now
