This is great! I am wondering how is the everything integration working? Though, I have used everything search tool in Windows xp extensively. I moved away from it under windows 7. It is largely due to the fact that I don’t have localadmin rights on the pc at work. Everything is useless without localadmin. I wish Listary does not have issue with localadmin when integrating with everything search/index tool. Have you considered it?
Listary 4 doesn’t require admin rights as before. If you don’t have localadmin rights, you can’t use Everything search integration, but you won’t have any trouble with other features.
I’m so sorry for the delay of Listary 4 beta. I made too many fundamental changes in version 4 and now it seems that I have to rewrite ALL user interfaces (including the whole Listary Options dialog, Listary toolbar and all menus). This drives me crazy, but I believe it worth the time considering future extensibility and flexibility.
I’m so sorry for the delay of the beta version and I’m sorry that I can’t give an estimated date. There are a lot of unexpected difficulties while developing the new user interface. It’s going slowly, but I’m making progress everyday.
I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available. Thank you very much for your patience!
Hi,Channing, did you ever have this idea: Cloud Backup. I mean the new version Listary can do things like that: auto backup user’s favorites and recent data in the cloud, so that Listary can get the data back when the local system lost every user’s data file in case. You know , I just had a flash of intuition. If it is not worth to do so,let it be
In my opinion, Listary does not contain any important data, just list of files that you recently opened/saved so there’s not much sense in such thing.
What is more, listary configuration doesn’t take much disk space so you can copy your configuration files to pendrive once a week or something.
Thank you very much for the suggestion. As @daroc mentioned, Listary itself doesn’t contain important data. Favorites and recent items are just “shortcuts” to folders/files scattered everywhere on your disk. So unless you have a full disk backup, it’s kind of meaningless to backup favorites/recent items alone.
P.S. There is an “Export/Import” button already on the plan for easy backing up and restoring
I’m really sorry for keeping you waiting so long. For some personal reasons, I don’t have much time for the beta version. I’m still working on it everyday, and the progress is slow but steady.
Hi Channing, long time user and big time fan of Listary - I have been checking this thread religiously about when v4 of Listary will be released - I know for personal reasons you have not had much time to work on it, however is is possible to give a rough indication of when you might expect to release the beta version - i.e. is it months away, or weeks etc - any information you can give would be really great - this has fast become one of my favourite applications and I eagerly await the release of v4 (even in beta) to test. Cheers. Keep up the development of this great application!
