@LBCOOLG
Within one month, I promise
Hey - can we have an update on the status of Listary v4? Its almost month since my last post…is the beta or full version 4 nearing release?
He still got one week. Let the man do his job and we’ll see when it’s done.
What do you want? A rushed product full of bugs or a nice fully functional well thought out program.
I’d rather have the latter one.
@LBCOOLG
@tourmaline
Some final optimization & clean up & bug fix work to do. I’ll release it on August 15th.
@tourmaline - thanks for your 2 cents…read my comment I said “update on the status”, it was not a demand that it be released. I am as big a fan as anyone of Listary and I am eager to try out the new version. That being said I am willing to wait months more for a fully functional version if need be.
@ Channing - keep up the good work - I am eagerly waiting to see if the “Everything SE” integration works - Aug 15 is my bday so that is a great date to release v4beta/v4!
Great News! Looking forward to August 15th … ;-))
Hey Channing - how are you? at the risk of tourmaline’s wrath … is v4 being released today or does it need more work still?
OMG, it’s still august the 15th!
OK - no problem - I am in Australia - its Aug 16 here now! Just a big Listary fan awaiting the release!
August 15th ends without v4 also in Switzerland … ;-((
Slow work yields fine products. We chinese always say this sentence. Perhaps Channing need a little more time to finish up the work :) I am waiting for v4
We know in Switzerland another sentence saying: Life punishes those who are late … ;-))
LOL, no wrath, it seems it needs a little more work.
I was anticipating this day as much as you guys did…hopefully we’ll see it this weekend?

The silence is deffening!!!
v3 is good enough to survive some more weeks … ;-))
Keep up, Channing!
Yup…
v3 is good enough to survive some more weeks ... ;-)) Keep up, Channing!
I really hope v.4 will work with Lucion’s FileCenter.
Lucion stubbornly refuses to allow filtering of filenames within a folder (even for the paid version), so adding Listary’s functionality to it would increase my productivity dramatically!
Looking forward to v.4

Channing, any sign of life would be welcome…
Maybe on holiday???!!!
Don’t worry, in programming it is quite normal not to make the deadline…we won’t lynch you for that, LOL. Just give us a sign of life and the status thus far.
This was by far the most anticipated beta release ever… At least for me ;(
Hello guys,
I’m truly, truly sorry for the long delay of the beta version.
Listary 4 beta was planned to be released on May. Just before the day of release, I decided to make some “small changes” (supposed to be one week of full-time work), and that was how things went out of control:
- “This new technology looks really cool, let’s apply it to feature A… And then feature B… And then feature C…” One day I found myself in the process of rewriting one totally new Listary from scratch. It’s a typical failure in software development, but I had never thought it would happen to a small project like Listary. I was too optimistic to think I had everything under control.
- For some personal reasons I could only work for a very limited time (approximately one hour per day) on Listary in the last three months. This added much insult to injury.
Early this month, I finally got a runnable version. It did have some exciting new features, but also contained many bugs, and a few important features of the current stable version were missing (you know, rewrite from scratch…) I tried my best to fix all these, but I broke the release date (August 15th) once again (I felt really guilty about this).
The good news is that I came back to my workplace yesterday and I can work full-time on Listary again now. I’ll finish an acceptable runnable version with limited features ASAP. Then I’ll keep releasing a new version (with those missing old features, new features and bug fixes from your feedbacks) every two or three days (just like the good old days).
Thank you so much for your understanding, and, of course, your great patience!
