Restore keyboard navigation for Favorite menu as in version 5

Issue

Listary 5 had great keyboard navigation for the Favorite menu that’s missing in version 7:

  1. “&” character hotkeys - For example “Re&ports” let you press “P” to select that item
  2. First-letter navigation - Press any letter to jump to items starting with that letter

Current Problem

In version 7, both features are gone. Users must now use mouse clicks or arrow keys only.

Request

Please restore keyboard navigation for favorite menus:

  • Bring back “&” character functionality for custom hotkeys
  • Restore first-letter navigation (standard Windows behavior)

This would make favorite menus much more efficient for keyboard users, like they were in version 5.

I use these features constantly, which is why for years I’m still using version 5 instead of upgrading to version 7. Hopefully it can therefor be included again in version 7.

Hi,

Regarding the first point (“&” character hotkeys), we’re not entirely sure how this feature works — could you provide a specific example or explain it a bit more?

As for the second feature (first-letter navigation), we previously encountered some display issues in this part of the UI, which led us to restructure the layout (e.g., div changes). It’s possible that this inadvertently disabled or broke the standard Windows behavior. We’ll ask our dev team to look into it.

We really appreciate your feedback!

Dear Lily,

Thank you for your reply, it would be great if this could be reinstantiated.

Attached is an image which shows how the setting of the hotkeys in the Favorites menu works in version 5, as described in my first message. In the left side of the image the hotkeys are set with the & character before the preferred hotkey. The right side of the image shows how the Favorites menu makes the hotkeys visible. By pressing one of these keys (o, b or d), I can directly navigate to the desired folder:

Hopefully this makes it clear?

Thanks for you feedback on this issue.
