Unless I’ve missed something Listary cannot provide real time updates to a search.
(That and the size column are features of Everything I use every day.)
Sorry for the late reply. You can update to the latest version, V6.3.2.87. This update fixes the real-time updates bug.
As for the file size column feature, we plan to add it in a future update—stay tuned!
I’m excited to see a column for file size in the results thank you! That’s the missing piece that keeps me going back to Everything. I’d prefer to just use Listary Pro only. Love this program!
I’ve just updated to the latest (6.3.2.88) and I still don’t see a size column.
Did you (Sfs) mean (1) you were excited to see such a column, or that (2) you would be excited if it existed. If (1), how did you get it to show?
I’m excited to hear that Lily said it’s coming in a future update. It’s not yet in the program.
I can’t wait until it’s here. It will make Listary the absolute best. Have a great day!
I’ve just updated to the latest (6.3.2.88) and still don’t see realtime updates.
In fact, even if I delete a file from within Listary itself (via context menu) it remains in the listing. (and the preview shows created 424 years ago)
You’ll need to reopen the File Search Window (not restart Listary) for the index to update. Right now, real-time updates in the search window aren’t enabled due to performance considerations, but this will definitely be improved in the future.
Listary maintains a dedicated index, which you can view under Options > File Search > Index. This index does update in real-time, but the File Search Window needs to be reopened to reflect the latest changes.
Thanks. Perhaps as an interim a recycle option should be easy: triggered by a recycle button or F5; or even triggered by any changes in the search box.
Everything does manage efficient realtime update and it is a feature that I make regular use of. I am currently running both Everything and Listary. Everything for realtime update of the list view, with (sortable) size column and properly formatted date column. Also the search facilities are more complete. ext:jpg is one I use regularly, .jpg in Everything and Listary get files with .jpg.lnk. Also and/or search and better handling of negatives. Part of that might be that I’m just more used to Everything.
So for now I really only use Listary for its really helpful addition to the standard open dialog. I’d love it if Listary got to be a complete Everything alternative.
