Default File Names

I hate having to think of file names for every single image, text file, etc. that I make.

When I record a voice memo on my phone or take a picture or make a post on social media, I don’t have to come up with a stupid file name. It feels like a leftover from when computers were more complicated. I wish Listary could be configured to auto-populate blank file name boxes in save dialogs with something like this:

It sorts alphabetically, it provides some useful info on when the file was created, it’s compatible with most major file systems. I do think some people wouldn’t like it, so maybe add a button to quickly turn it off for people who don’t like the feature.

If you want to be really fancy you could allow people to define their own default file name schema using wildcards. something like:

$year$month$day $hour$minute$second $application $timezone
