Program unable to update

Good afternoon
For almost four months now, every time I try to check for updates using the check update under options, I get an error message saying that the program is unable to check for updates at this time
I am running Listary Pro at home and in the office and on my laptop. This happens on all three computers all of which are running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. It also doesn’t seem to matter whether I am on my home network, work network or travelling and using another network (hotel, etc.)
My antivirus program is Bitdefender total security and I have tried disabling the firewall to do the update and no joy either.
I manually installed the current beta version (4.23.1792) in the hopes that would stop the problem but to no avail.

Updated to the new beta today (v 5) and now am able to automatically check for updates
